Cherry on Top was born out of an unexpected dinner conversation when owner Sarah Noll playfully suggested to her father (Jim Porter) that they open an ice cream shop on Main Street after the local Carvel closed. To her surprise, her dad took the idea to heart, and the next thing she knew, they were embarking on a new family-run adventure. “It was a spark in that moment that lit our passion to build something special,” she recalls. This collaborative family effort is now an iconic stop for ice cream and candy lovers alike.

When it comes to influences, Sarah attributes her strong work ethic and values to her parents. The family’s red hair was even the inspiration behind the shop’s name—Cherry on Top—a nod to both the perfect sundae garnish and the “cherry” that unites their family business. “My parents taught me the importance of hard work, perseverance, and kindness, and that’s exactly how we approach our shop.”
