Amici Bakery: A Sweet Dream Turned Reality on Main Street, Mullica Hill
For Alexis Rubino, owner of Amici Bakery on Main Street, the journey to business ownership was deeply personal and profoundly inspiring. After facing a second cancer diagnosis, Alexis realized that time is precious and that she needed to follow her lifelong dream. It was this pivotal moment that led to the creation of Amici Bakery, a small-batch, gourmet bakery that has since become a beloved part of the Mullica Hill community.
The name Amici, Italian for “friends,” holds special meaning for Alexis. “It was my friends that gave me the courage to pursue this dream,” she explains. That sense of friendship and connection is not only embedded in the name but also in the warm and welcoming atmosphere she creates for her customers. Her bakery offers affordable, homemade-style gourmet desserts, just like “mom” used to make.
What Alexis loves most about being a part of the Main Street community are the personal connections she’s made. Whether it’s relationships with other local business owners or the loyalty of her customers, it’s these bonds that make her feel like an integral part of the Mullica Hill family. In addition to their famous macarons, Amici offers custom cakes and traditional cookies, a fact many of her patrons may not even realize.
On a personal note, Alexis is passionate about giving back to her community. She serves on the School Board, leads the Clearview PTO as President, and teaches at her church—all while running a successful bakery. Her biggest inspirations? Her grandmothers, both of whom Alexis describes as strong women who taught her how to be a great mother and a determined businesswoman.
For Alexis, Amici Bakery is more than just a business. It’s a testament to the power of friendship, family, and community—values that truly embody what makes Main Street, Mullica Hill, such a welcoming place for both visitors and locals alike.
